Clever Composter & Propagator Tops x 2 are ideal for a small household of one or two people who are keen to compost and grow some herbs & veggies.  If you love growing wheatgrass for juicing then these clever composter & propagator tops are just the thing for small backyard gardeners.   While one is growing you can be cutting and juicing the other one.

Under normal circumstances, your wheat will grow in less than 10 days.   This is quicker than planting wheat directly on the ground.  But you can plant your wheat directly on the ground if you want to, and still cover it with the Compot Top.  Hold it in place with the 4 Stakes.  It won’t grow as quickly directly on the ground, because it does not have the heat and moisture created from composting below in a Compot.

You should have a wheat crop to cut and juice every week if you time it right.  Customers have told me it grows quicker than in their wheatgrass trays.  The heat generated below in the Compot makes it just the right environment for the wheat, barley, or oats, to sprout.

The Compot Top comes with a lift pin as well.  This can be placed in any one of the four holes in the new design (center hole in the old design) and left there while you are propagating.  When your wheatgrass gets really tall the lift pin makes it easy to pick the lid up and put in more compost below.  If you have several Compots then you might like to just leave one to propagate with and rotate filling up the others.  This is what works best for me.  Work out a system that works for you.

How much juice can I get out of one lid?

A whole lid full of wheatgrass will give you 5 to 7 shots of wheatgrass if you blend it up with roughly 100mls of water.   This comes from only half a cup of wheat seeds.   Enough for one shot per day for a week.   And you don’t need a special juicer to turn it into juice.   But get your seeds from an organic shop if you can.   Or grow the wheat till it seeds and save the seeds.

My trick, (that I discovered by accident) to stop the bitterness when juicing wheat grass, is to freeze it into ice cube trays or small plastic containers.   Defrost the next day for  your daily shot, and it actually becomes quite drinkable.  All the bitter taste is gone.  Or add to a smoothie or whatever takes your fancy.

One for you, One for your chooks

If you have two Compots and Tops you can put one of the pots and tops in your chicken pen and one in your veggie garden.  But it’s up to you where you put them.  There is no rule.  Just whatever suits you and your garden.

I have found that in hot climates it is best to propagate under a shady tree though it does depend on what you are trying to grow.   Having the extra propagator top means you can use it directly in the garden to cover any new plant.   Some plants don’t like being transplanted so cover them with the propagator top directly in the garden.  Stake the top into the ground with the 4 stakes, to prevent bugs and slugs from eating your new little plants.   Water it through the holes in the top while gases escape through the holes as well.   Experiment what works best for you.

Try growing other things from seed as well.  It is not just for wheatgrass.   There are a number of ways you can use the lid to grow the seeds.   I like using toilet rolls. Some people might use those jiffy packs or egg cartons.  Or just fill the lid with potting mix and plant directly in the lid.   This works well for wheatgrass.

If using compost from inside the Compot be careful when propagating because it can be too rich.  It is best to mix it with other soil, but again experiment and see what works best for what you are growing.  There are so many variables, but I am sure you will work that our for yourself over time.

Your eco-eze Compot composter is a clever, easy to use, in-ground, direct compost solution, designed to dispose of all your kitchen waste.  It can be adapted to suit any size garden, either large or small.  It is meant to make composting easy while nourishing your garden without the usual hard work that composting requires.

The design of the Compot allows you to fill it with all your kitchen waste including meat, citrus, onions, oil, dairy and basically anything biodegradable such as animal waste, without needing to chop it up into little pieces like you have to do with worm composting.  And, you don’t have to keep digging holes, unless of course you want to move them around your garden every 6 months or so.  That to me is too much work.

And all you have to do is keep topping it up or refilling it whenever you have any waste.  There is no need to wait for everything to decompose.  Just toss more waste on top of the old waste, lock on the lid and cover with anything but dirt or sugar cane mulch.
Simply…Fill… Forget… Refill.

Ideally, plant a few around your garden and rotate filling them.  By the time you get back to the first one, it will be well and truly ready to take more of your waste.

Plus it is super easy to harvest soil if you want to use the soil for your potted plants.

Just let one rest for 4 to 6 weeks without topping it up and it will turn into beautiful rich composted soil that is easy to scoop out with your hand or a trowel.

If you don’t like filling them with everything from your kitchen you can choose to fill them with just “worm friendly” food only.  It is slower with worms and you can’t compost everything.  Only worm friendly waste.  The choice is yours.  Work out what works best for you.

The green eco-eze Compots are made from virgin plastic material that should last you roughly 10 years plus in the garden.  There are no harmful chemicals in this material and it should not break if you stand on the lid.  The lid will usually push into the pot rather than break.  If you hit it with a rotary hoe (as one customer did) it will no doubt get chopped up.  The lid is designed to take the weight of a 50 Kg child who might run across it.  I personally have jumped on them and the lid usually just pushes inside the Compot Base.  The product is guaranteed for 2 years under normal circumstances, but it should last much longer than 2 years so you get many valuable years of use out of your Compots.
The Compot Top is made of clear plastic with a small amount of UV stabilizer added. This means it will last for several years in your garden before it deteriorates. I have had one in the garden in the same spot every day for over 8 years now and it is still going strong. There is no reason why you won’t get 10 years of use out of it as you will most likely not have it in the sun every single day like I have done to test its endurance.

POSTAGE COSTS:

To post one Compot costs the same as three Compots (unless you live in Brisbane where the rates are generally less than most other areas) so consider the postage costs when you order to get the best value out of your post.

After 3 Compots it costs roughly the same to post up to 14 Compots depending on where you live.   You can test different bundles for postage costs by entering your suburb details and requesting a quote.   Just don’t follow through with the order.   Try another bundle to compare postage costs, and then make your choice on the bundle you want.   Or call us if you can’t work this out.

The updated website and shopping cart should automatically calculate any variations of products you add to your order and offer you the three cheapest options (one with signature required) so you can choose which option you prefer, be it courier or Australia Post.  However, if this does not appear to happen then please call us (0467 006 529 / (07) 3358 3716) for a correct quote or continue to payment options.  We will refund you any postage charges over and above what the real cost is when we calculate and book your order.   So don’t be put off by the post.

If for any reason you feel the postage to your area is excessive (and sometimes it is too remote areas) please email us  so we can work something out for you.  The updated website will now give you Australia Post and courier costs, but this still may be excessive.   So, contact us to see how we can help.
